Constructed 1941, Renovated 2007
The hippodrome's inherent beauty lies in its structure; it is both rational and organic. The curved roof forms hyperboloids which are supported at their narrowest point by vertical pillars. This double-curve allows the cantelevered span to be acheived while simultaneously freeing up interior space. Not only are the structural details well thought out, but details such as the treatment of concrete on the interior are minimal and elegant.
